The rental agreement guarantees the week for 10 years for a party of up to six people in a brand new three bedroom, two bathroom cabin at a very reduced rate. If the thought of having a cabin on a lake as beautiful as Lake of the Woods has crossed your mind this may be the perfect opportunity!

We have a few spaces left in the program so if interested in further details contact us at our toll free number 877-226-1211 and we will be happy to go further into the details with you.

PASSPORTS – NOW IS THE TIME

If you are planning a trip to anywhere in Canada this season you need to know that as of June , 2009, all adult travelers will need either a Passport Book (approximately $100.00) or Passport Card (approximately $50.00) to enter the United States. At this point your entry into Canada does not require them. If I were one who plays hunches frequently I would say that will be coming soon. Anyone who is over the age of 18 will need to have either one or the other in hand. People who are under the age of 18 years need to have their Birth Certificate with them. A copy will do. Need to remember that the Passport Card while less expensive does not last as long, 5 years versus 10 years and it also limits the method of travel to by land only. For those of our guests at Whitefish Bay Camp on Lake of the Woods who have not yet applied for their Passport, book or card, do it NOW. It is really easy to do. Many local Post Offices are now equipped to accept the application. If they are not prepared at your local Post Office they will be able to tell you the closest place you can go to apply. Be sure to have your Birth Certificate with you and you must apply in person. It might be a good idea to call ahead of time to be sure that they have the camera there or if you need to have two copies of the right size picture with you.

For the latest information regarding Application for Passports and what is required for minors traveling to Canada we strongly suggest that you go to the following website: http://travel.state.gov/passprt/get/first/first_830.html

Remember the Northern Pike, Bass, Walleye, Muskie, Crappie and Lake Trout are waiting for you at Whitefish Bay Camp so sharpen your hooks, line your pools, check your nets and get your Passports

IT’S HERE

SPRING !!!!

Bob and I always get excited on the first day of Spring . We always feel better when we know we are on the other side of the equinox and it happened yesterday morning. It was a rather gloomy day yesterday and then around noon the snow started. This is not fair really but you know what, we felt better when we realized it would only last a few days or weeks not months now and the water will turn soft again and we can get out to Whitefish Bay Camp on Clavert Island. Time to begin going through the tackle boxes and find our barbless hooks for early fishing until Walleye season opens the third Saturday in May…the 16th this year.

The fishing should be wonderful this Spring as is usual. The Crappie, Northern Pike, Bass and Lake Trout will be first of course followed by Walleye later in May and Muskie in June. There is nothing better than that first meal of fresh fish out of the cold, clear water of Whitefish Bay of Lake of the Woods. We usually lightly fry the crappie and northern with a thin crusty coat on the fillets and serve it with a dinner salad for supper or with scrambled eggs for breakfast. Our favorite preparation of Lake Trout is to grill it. A good friend,Keith Gates, gave us a recipe some years ago using Miracle Whip, seasonings, sliced onions, green peppers and mushrooms with some cheese on the top! Makes my mouth water just to think of it. Tell you what, come on up and join us at Whitefish Bay Camp and we’ll give you the details of that recipe!

We have one Sport Show left for this year. The Minnesota Muskie Expo which is renamed George’s Minnesota Muskie Expo in honor of a dear friend, George Wahl, who started the show years ago. It is in a new location this year, being held at Concordia College just off of I94 on Hamlin Avenue in St.Paul. The dates are April 3rd through the 5th. We will be in Booth 309. Come see us and make your reservations for a trip to Sunset Country in Ontario,Canada this season! If you can’t get to the show then call us at our toll-free number 877-226-1211 or e-mail us at info@whitefishbaycamp.com

Omaha All-Canada Show

by Whitefish Bay Camp on February 7, 2009

WESTWARD HO!

Whitefish Bay Camp is on the path to our last All-Canada Fishing and Hunting Show of the 2009 Show Tour. It is a wonderful thing in many ways as we do get just a tad tired of hotels and suitcase lining but never tire of talking to the wonderful people who come to the shows. This one is be held in Omaha, NE, at Holiday Inn Convention Center and you will find us in Booth 317. Show opens on Feb.9 and ends on Feb.15.

NOTHING STOPS THIS SHOW

Last year there was a small fire at this facility, way at the other end of the building, exhibitors and attendees moved out to the doors where the firemen told us to wait as it was so cold out….we all just kept on talking together and had a merry ole time of it…when the excitement was over we all herded back into the hall and talked more fishing and hunting. Nothing can stop a dyed in the wool sports-minded person. Come see what happens this year!
