News about Border Crosssing Difficulties

Hi there everyone....Spring is definitely in the air today which only brings to mind the plans for the upcoming fishing 2012 season at Whitefish Bay Camp.

The major news to share with you today is that we are getting  pieces of information which seem  to be saying that a major change is in the works that will affect those of you who have one minor criminality charge on your record such a simple DUI no matter when it occurred.  It appears as though the Canadian Government is going to ease up a bit and allow you to come into Canada with little hassle.  We are hearing that there will be a form that can be down loaded and prepared before you get to the border where you will present it to the agent who will then give you a Temporary Permit for the visit to Canada and that there will be no charge for that Permit. Apparently for now at least this is a one time visit which is being allowed to give the Canadian Government time to think this whole issue through, cross the t's and dot the i's , in order to get the final plan in place for future years.

We have a lot of unanswered questions of course and none of this seems to be written in stone although it is our understanding that it has been announced in the various media outlets in Canada.  We know there are many of you that have not been able to come into Canada for a number of years without a huge delay, hassle and in some cases humiliation.  This situation has caused grief to many including the Tourism Industry in Canada and many of us have been working long and hard to try to get some changes in the law and the enforcement procedures for the law it would appear that we are making some headway.  We hope that very soon we will be able to post a full and official statement of the changes as well as a website where you can find the necessary form.

Even this little movement means a lot as it signifies that the Government is hearing, better late than never, what the Tourism Industry, among others,  has been saying.
