Whitefish Bay Camp on beautiful Lake of the Woods in Ontario is singing a new tune…Off We Go Into the Wild Blue Yonder…well, as far as Missouri for this leg of the journey.

The All-Canada Show tour starts off with a bang in St. Louis, MO on Friday, Jan 8,2010. We always look forward to the Sport Shows as they give us a opportunity to talk about the great Northern Pike, Walleye, Bass, Lake Trout, Muskie and Crappie fishing our guests can find in Lake of the Woods. Of course many of the people who come our booth at the series of shows that we do want to also talk about the Whitetail, Moose, Black Bear and Duck hunting we have to offer.

All the conversation serves to remind us that Spring is on the way and it makes us yearn to get back to our island resort. Whitefish Bay Camp is a beautifully located boat-in resort , just a five mile boat trip from our private parking area on the mainland. For this reason we are able to offer the experience of remoteness without the plane flight. Nestor Falls and Sioux Narrows in Ontario are wonderful small towns that offer people good shops for places to grab a bite to eat, something to take your thirst away, groceries, gifts, the very latest in lures and baits as well as information about the goings on in the area.

This is the time of year that people are getting their groups and/or families organized for their Fishing and Hunting trip for the upcoming season. The businesses that welcome you also start their planning. Whitefish Bay Camp is certainly among them. We have numerous lists getting longer by the day of projects that we want done and shopping lists for items we will need to work on those projects. We have a good start on our reservation book and have sent out our yearly Newsletter to our past guests. We have already gotten our sport show booth out and set up to see what needs doing in order to present an orderly place for people to come to gather information .

We suggest that those who have not already made up their minds where they want to visit this year plan to attend at least one of the many Sport Shows that come to their areas. Come equipped with your list of wants and needs and your questions about what each business has to offer. Every place is different and it is a matter of matching what they have to offer to what you are looking for….kinds of fish or game….types of accommodations that are offered….location…distance from home….meal plans and so on and most importantly what is included and what is not included in whatever plan is offered, this can vary greatly from one business to another.

We think one of the very best sport shows ever is the series that the All-Canada Show presents. Tough Days Are Here!!

Yep, life can be rough sometimes….got up this morning here at Whitefish Bay Camp to clear blue skies, sun shine in my eyes, and noisy birds singing their little lungs out, cool breeze stirring the leaves and fresh fish in the frig for breakfast. Fishing has picked back up after a couple of days of heavy wind. Walleye last night were in about 8 feet of water on the windward shores…a little hard to control the boat but hey the fish were biting!! Found some 25 inch Northern nearby camp so that got added into the mix of things too. Darn things are all over the place.

Had five loads of laundry to finish up and it dried in about 20 minutes a load in this darn sunshine and breeze,

We have a slow week this week which here means that Bob and I don’t have to cook for any of our guests this week…first time we have had a full week off the kitchen range since the third week or so of May. Some of our guests are having a fish cook out at 4:30 in one of the shore picnic spots and invited us to join them. Be warm at that time of day so a cold beer might be in order too.

Yep, tough having to live and fish here at Whitefish Bay Camp on Lake of the Woods near Nestor Falls, Ontario, on a day like today!

Spring is just around the corner

The time is right to begin planning your 2009 fishing and hunting trips! No better place to get it all done than at the Boat and Sport Show at the Schaumburg Convention Center. Whitefish Bay Camp will be at booth number 403 beginning on opening day Feb.12 until Feb. 15 when the show ends.

Des Moines All-Canada Show

ONWARD!

Whitefish Bay Camp loads up our home away from home again and this time move on to wonderful Des Moines, IA. We always enjoy our time at the Vet’s Auditorium in Des Moines. The show opens Feb.6 and ends late in the afternoon on Feb.8. The attendees are interested in fishing primarily we find….and are partial to perch and walleye.

END IN SIGHT

We will have one more of the All-Canada Fishing and Hunting Showsto attend and then we are done with this circuit. We still have some cabins available for accommodation during the season so be sure to get your name in pronto for reservations.

HOME TOWN SHOW

The crew of the All-Canada Show calls this area home. We always have a great turn out for this show and this year the show is joining in a promotion with Ducks Unlimited. Promises to be a fun time for all. The show guests here are always interested in what the Canadian Experience has to offer them that they can’t find in their own area. Hunting is the strong suit here but we offer a chance to combine a fishing and hunting trip into one trip….always popular. The show is held at the ShopKo Hall 1901 S Oneida St opening Thursday, Jan 29 and closing late in the afternoon on Sunday, Feb.1 and our booth is number 408. Come on over!!

The Madison Marriott West located at 1313 John Q Hammons Dr in Middleton, WI is the home of the ALL-CANADA Fishing and Hunting Show in the Madison. This is a beautiful venue for this show….another of those that is connected right to the hotel and makes registering and setting up go so much easier for the exhibitors. Our show visitors like it too as it is one of the shows offers a warm intimate setting. Easy to get to, free parking and good company …hard to beat. We’ll be in town and in our booth number 212 beginning Jan.26 until evening of Jan 28. Come on over!

Back to the lake

We always enjoy our short but sweet stay in with the All-Canada Show at the County Sports Complex, 6000 W Ryan Rd.
The crowd is so enthusiastic in Milwaukee and their interests are certainly Fishing and or Hunting. Their questions are always right on the money which makes it so much easier to help them put together the vacation they are looking for. Group Discounts and Family Plan is very popular here. HERE WE ARE AGAIN!

The Fountains is a really great venue for the INDIANAPOLIS ALL-CANADA SHOW. The parking is good (free) and there is lots of space and is easy to get to in the suburb of Carmel, 502 E Carmel Drive. Our booth number is 107 and we will be so pleased to see our friends for a visit and the opportunity to set up your reservations for your fishing and or hunting trips. Don’t miss the show which opens Jan 19 and closes later on Jan 21.
